The only product slide you need

There’s no magic template for a pitch deck. But there is one type of product slide that hits way harder than any other.

And that’s a well-done user journey slide.

A great user journey/product slide answers one key question: exactly what does the user get for what they put in?

And not only that, but how fast?

Example:

Say my product is an AI that writes Linkedin posts. I could break down the product this way:

  • Analysis layer
    Ingests user’s personal brand data

  • Training hub
Drafts sample content and asks for user feedback

  • Planning engine
Lets user decide cadence, time of day, etc.

  • Writing agent
    Drafts posts + distributes them

  • Feedback model
Analyzes post performance and iterates accordingly

OR I could break it down this way:

  1. Connect profiles
User connects their personal brand accounts (Linkedin, Medium, Substack, etc)

  2. Get samples in < 1s
    AI immediately generates
10+ sample posts in their voice & on their topics

  3. Select favorites
User selects best posts, agent adjusts voice accordingly

  4. Set schedule
User selects frequency, time of day, etc.

  5. Automatically publish + iterate indefinitely
AI writes and posts on schedule, improving over time based on performance and user feedback

The first example above tells me five things the product does.

The second tells me how valuable the product is.

How? By explaining how much the user gets for what they put in, how fast they get it, and EVEN how low-risk it is for them (because of the user feedback part).

So if your product slide currently just lists features or details the backend, I’d swap it out for a solid user journey slide. Or at least add one.

Good luck with your raise and watch out for next week’s email!

Best,

Nathan
