No deck has this slide, but every deck needs it.
The “intro slide” is the first slide after your title slide that sums up the rest of the deck. The idea is this: if an investor didn’t get past this slide, what would they know about your company?
Since most investors want to skim your deck at light speed, it’s crucial that you have this slide to stop them in their tracks and show them why they should take their time on yours.
It’s a summary and credibility slide. It should say “Here’s what we’re doing and why you should care.”
That means it should typically include:
A quick, one-sentence explanation of your company or product
Your most impressive metrics (preferably revenue)
Logos of impressive clients if you have them
Testimonials if you have them
A point about the size of the opportunity (could be market size, market growth rate, or both)
Pictures that prove you’re a real company with a real product or service
It doesn’t need to have exactly those things, but those are the most common. What’s important is that it highlights the most impressive and exciting facts about your company and opportunity.
Good luck with your raise and watch out for more from us!
Best,
Nathan
