Typing things like “Problem”, “Solution”, “Product”, etc. at the top of your slides is a massive waste of space, and robs you of a major opportunity to tell a compelling story with your deck. 

Investors aren’t watching to make sure you perfectly follow the conventional “template”. They’re just people with short attention spans that want to understand your business and find out if it’s exciting.

A template doesn’t grip people, but a story does. So instead of using titles, try using headlines. 

A headline is just a short sentence that introduces the concept your slide dives into, or in some cases, sums it up. 

For example, instead of writing “Solution” in big letters at the top of your solution slide, you might write something like this:

Notice how much more efficiently space was used. If we had just written “SOLUTION”, we would’ve had to de-emphasize the most important information on the slide.

This is especially best practice for your read-only deck. But it works for pitch presentation too. Here are a few other examples:
